Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Volunteer Opportunities

VITA provides low-to-moderate income Flathead Valley residents with free tax
preparation and assistance from IRS certified volunteers. Volunteers receive
free training based on IRS materials. Volunteers can choose their schedule
and position. We are currently accepting applications for tax preparers, intake
specialists, and site coordinators.
One hour of volunteerism can bring $6000 back to the Flathead Valley!

Project Homeless Connect Volunteer Opportunities
Tour Guide – Guide homeless participant through event, help them get services, talk with them, listen to their story, be the friendly face of PHC, share a meal, work with client to select services or take them to intake for “table prescription”.
Intake – Assist participants with identifying needs and services that may help to meet those needs, must be very well informed about services available at the event.
Set up - Event preparation. We will need groups of people to sort donations, set up the clothing distribution area, set up tables and chairs for the eating area, get service provider stations ready.
Greeters – Greet participants as they arrive at the event, grab beverages if needed, direct them to front of line near entrance of building, knowledge of restroom locations, smoking area, child care area, pet services, car seats. Match tour guides with clients.
Sewing and Mending – We need people to sew and mend damaged clothes throughout the day. 2/3 sewing machines have been donated to help with event. Will help with the basics�patches, hems, buttons, etc.
Childcare – Help watch children.
Bussers - Provide general clean up during the day. Clear plates and trash from eating areas, be available to clean up spills and messes throughout the day.
Donation Sorters – Keep the area neat, know what kinds of items are available, make sure clothing remains organized by size and that other items are easy to take, help participants find clothing items/personal care items they are looking for.
Clean up – Tear down and clean up, putting chairs and tables away, moving undistributed goods to storage, garbage collection, take down tents, or any additional thing not noted.
