The Weatherization Assistance Program helps reduce the high cost of energy for low-income households. We install a combination of energy saving measures such as wall, attic and floor insulation, decrease the amount of air infiltration from doors and windows and perform efficiency and safety checks on heating systems. In some cases we have reduced a home's energy use up to 19%.

Eligibility
The Weatherization Program will weatherize 235 homes out of the 5015 eligible homes in Flathead, Lincoln, Lake and Sanders Counties during 2012. Each household is prioritized based on the annual income of the family and the amount of money spent on heating bills. The homes with a low annual income and high heating bills are our priority. Special consideration is given the elderly and handicapped. Once you are eligible, we contact you to set up an appointment to conduct an energy audit on your home to determine what modifications we need to make on your home to reduce energy consumption.

Energy Conservation
Community Action Partnership of Nortwest Montana has an extensive Client Education Program. It begins with the initial audit and ends at the final inspection. Our contractors are also involved in the education process. We feel client education is a very important component of our program. It involves the people in a household making informed changes of their own to help reduce the cost of energy bills.

If you are on Fuel Assistance and heat with natural gas or electricity, you may be eligible for weatherization because your utility company contributes to the program to help their customers. Please contact the Weatherization Office to see if you qualify for this special assistance.
